Steve Irwin Day

He was a favourite Australia icon, a wildlife champion, a committed conservationist and above all a family man. On November 15 2007, we celebrated Steve Irwin.

Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific jumped at the chance to participate in Steve Irwin Day 2007 and got right into the spirit of things.

Staff enthusiastically donned their khakis and collectively raised over $600. Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific CEO, Barry Robinson, said it was an important day to be involved in. "Steve Irwin was a remarkable man who contributed a great deal to Australian identity. He created awareness about our valuable wildlife, which is something we can easily take for granted. We loved getting into our comfortable khakis and contributing to such great cause."

All proceeds from the day's activities went to Steve's worthy organisation, Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. The organisation was initiated in 2002 by Steve and Terri Irwin in a bid to gather support for the protection of endangered wildlife. From the individual animal to the entire species, Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Worldwide is committed to fighting for native wildlife that is under threat.

Money raised through Steve Irwin Day contributes to causes such as supporting the establishment of wildlife hospitals, undertaking research on endangered species and setting up services to prevent habitat destruction.
