Earth Hour

Preventing global warming is essential for protecting our natural habitat and maintaining its beauty for future generations. At Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, we actively support initiatives that help sustain our valuable and treasured environment.

That's why we participated in Earth Hour 2008. On March 29 this year, we joined 50 million people around the world and switched off our lights for one hour. In supporting Earth Hour, we helped demonstrate that working collectively can achieve amazing results. The simple act of turning off lights and conserving energy can dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and relieve our environment from urban pressures.

This year, Earth Hour was held in more than 35 countries across seven continents, and more than 18 different time zones. Millions of people from all corners of the globe came together to achieve a common objective - conserving energy and creating awareness about the effects of climate change. Iconic buildings and landmarks turned off their lights, from the Colosseum in Rome to Australia's own Sydney Opera House.

The challenge of preventing climate change is a big one, but supporting important activities like Earth Hour is the first step in protecting our environment for the future. The countdown to Earth Hour 2009 is on again, and Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific will be avidly supporting the movement next year.

Earth Hour is a way to be responsive about global warming and educate ourselves on the changes we can make not only on an industry level, but also as individuals.
