Dear Destinations,

A trip to Canada and Alaska had been on the menu for some time but when I had an unexpected trip to the US this year we decided to do some creative planning.
My husband David met me in Vancouver using his frequent flyer points! From our hotel - The Canadian - we had great views of the city surrounded by snow-capped mountains. We took in the sights of the city via a bus trip, which included a gondola ride to view the spectacular city. I even walked across the longest expansion bridge in the world - yikes!
On the Friday morning we travelled to North Vancouver to take one of the Rocky Mountaineer's inaugural trips to Whistler. We stayed two nights at the Cascade Lodge and were amazed that people were still snowboarding in May!
The late return trip meant that we arrived at midnight, but the staff still welcomed us and we felt like we were home - it was so inviting and we didn't want to leave! No visit to Victoria is complete without taking in the world famous Butchard Gardens for inspiration.
Three days later we stepped onboard the Carnival Spirit, a seven-night Glacier Bay Alaskan cruise. We had perfect weather and witnessed nature at its best. We saw whales diving and bald eagles fishing (they had a seven-foot wing span!).
We have been members for two years and are so thankful that we went to that first presentation and took the 'leap-of-faith' to become members. David and I said that if being an Owner was as good as it sounded we are going to have the time of our lives, and WE HAVE!
Kathy and David McDonald
